Red Fort is the best example of Mughal Architecture that had been built by any Mughal Emperor ever. It had been built by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan during his reign - 1638 and 1648.

At present, visitors enter in this fort through the Lahori Gate. There is a small but very busy market place more popularly known as ‘Meena Bazar.’ This market is famed for the collection of antiques, miniature paintings, and beautiful fake ivory Jewellery. The beautiful carpet of this market is also very much famous.


Diwan-i-Am

Diwan-i-AmDiwan-i-Am or Hall of Public Audience – it is located inside the Red Fort that is richly decorated with the gilded stuccowork. Primarily, it had a courtyard on its front where emperor used to hear the cases of his countrymen.

Diwan-i-Khas
Diwan-i-Khas The Diwan-i-Khas is the hall of Private Audiences. Here emperor had been used to hold private meetings. it is made up of marble, and its centre-piece had Peacock Throne, which was studded with rubies and gems. However, it had been carried away to Iran by Nadir Shah in 1739. About this Amir Khusro said “If there is Paradise on the face of earth, it is here, it is here, it is here."
